Prep and Aftercare

Before a session

  • Hydrate. Half your body weight in ounces of water per day, every day, throughout the whole process, including the day before and the day of.
  • Eat normally, but lightly. Don't come in right after a big heavy meal. If your session is at 2, avoid eating between noon and 2, and keep it light. Not a burger and fries.
  • Wear something comfortable that gives access to the treatment area. Leggings and a t-shirt for abdomen work, a tank top for arms.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 to 48 hours beforehand. It's dehydrating. One glass of wine is fine. Don't binge the night before.
  • Don't do anything extreme to prepare. No fasting, no detoxing. Come in as you are.
  • Tell Bronwyn about any medical changes since you last spoke: new medication, a procedure, pregnancy, illness. It can affect treatment or be a contraindication.

After a session

  • Hydration is the most important thing. Half your body weight in ounces daily, and the three to five days after cavitation matter most.
  • Movement, at least 20 minutes a day. A walk. Around Costco or Target counts.
  • Nobody leaves without 10 minutes on the vibration plate, unless they have a contraindication.
  • Sleep. Underrated and important for recovery.
  • Eat light afterward. Avoid heavy and salty food. No margaritas and chips.
  • Avoid sugary drinks. They don't count as water. Lemon or lime in water is fine.
"Your lymphatic system does not have a pump. You are the pump."

Bronwyn sends reminders after each session covering these.

What is normal afterward

Most people feel completely normal: no pain, no downtime. Many say they feel tighter and smoother right away. Skin may look slightly pink or red after radiofrequency, depending on skin sensitivity; it usually settles within 30 minutes and is not painful. You may urinate more than usual, which is expected from the hydration plus the lymphatic movement.

Who should not do this

BAQ treats women only. Bronwyn does not currently accept male clients.

If you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic medical device, Bronwyn is not able to treat you. Several of the modalities involve electrical energy, radiofrequency, ultrasound or electromagnetic equipment, and she does not separate them out and assume one part of a session is safe because it works differently. This is a firm no rather than something to discuss.

Bronwyn also cannot treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cancer, or have an active infection or open wound in the area you want treated.

The following need a conversation before booking, and in some cases clearance from the provider who treats you:

  • Heart disease, high blood pressure or significant heart, liver or kidney disease
  • Diabetes
  • A history of cancer
  • Epilepsy or seizures
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Skin disorders in the treatment area
  • Metal or cosmetic implants in the treatment area, including joint replacements
  • Blood thinning medications or other clotting concerns
  • Surgery in the last 12 months
  • Tattoos, piercings or open wounds in the treatment area

Blood thinners deserve a specific note. Bronwyn will not perform ultrasonic cavitation on someone taking a prescription blood thinner without clearance from the provider who manages that medication, and other modalities may need to be modified. Never stop or change a medication in order to have a treatment. That decision belongs to the provider who prescribed it.

If you are not sure whether something on this list applies to you, call the studio at 920-450-0210 before booking. Bronwyn would rather have the conversation first than have you arrive and find out she cannot treat you.

The body sculpting process was painless and easy! I received reminder texts after my appointments about how to optimize my results. The spa like facility was very clean and welcoming.
